Bargara is the largest of the Bundaberg region’s coastal towns and is just a 15 minute drive from the Bundaberg city centre.
Bargara features an abundance of accommodation and dining options. There are also significant shopping facilities, plentiful parklands, several beaches, and two still water swimming areas.
The streetscape around the Esplanade and Bauer St intersection is an attractive public area of walkways, decks, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The nearby restaurants and cafes also offer a fantastic al fresco experience.
For those looking for something more active Bargara has excellent walking and cycling paths, an 18 hole golf course, lawn bowls, and great diving and snorkelling locations.
About Burnett Heads
The township of Burnett Heads is situated at the mouth of the Burnett River 16km from Bundaberg and just a few minutes drive from Bargara.
Burnett Heads features the lovely Oaks Beach, a historic lighthouse, tasty fresh seafood, and great boating facilities including the Burnett Heads Marina and the nearby Port of Bundaberg – a haven for international ‘yachties’.
The ‘Turtle Trail’ walking and cycling track links Burnett Heads to Bargara via Mon Repos and is a great way to take your time, get some exercise, and enjoy the scenic coastline.
Burnett Heads is also home to the annual Lighthouse Festival which takes place on the last Saturday in October.
Mon Repos, Innes Park, Coral Cove
Located between Burnett Heads and Bargara is Mon Repos Beach the home of one of the region’s best natural attractions, the Mon Repos turtle rookery.
Just to the south of Bargara is Innes Park which has a lovely inlet and small beach along with family friendly parklands. Innes Park adjoins Coral Cove which features the Coral Cove golf course and resort facility and the Barolin Rocks dive site.
